Language and audiovisual interfaces inform the current landscape and evolution of widely adopted AI applications. More accessible for interaction and evaluation, they overshadow the potential of intermediate representations. Embeddings could provide a more efficient and comprehensive medium for planning, reasoning, and inter-system communication, as their coverage and utility span beyond biological multi-modal domains. Taking lower representations seriously would naturally grant synthetic agents greater freedom, shifting human interfaces towards the physical world.
